STORY FROM PRISON
LO WU | HONG KONG - On Sunday (22/9/2019), I was from the volunteer team Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong together with 6 fellow Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) Hong Kong visited Lo Wu Correctional Institution or Lo Wu Prison. They are Sri Wahyuni, Yohanna Herminah, Endang Sumartini, Sutarni, Wiji Lestari, and Reni Suherti.
We brought gifts for our friends, fellow Indonesian citizens (WNI) who are currently serving a prison sentence in Lo Wu. Souvenirs in the form of tissues, books, pens, body lotion, lip gloss, hand washing soap, powder, etc. were handed over to the officers to be examined and given to friends who were convicted.
Inside, we share tasks. Ukhti Reni Suherti went to visit a friend who was imprisoned for an overstay case.
The friend who once worked as a domestic worker (PRT) also shared a story. When he was on overstay, he worked illegally at a restaurant in the Central area. When he was taking out the trash, there were people who were fighting. Not long after that, the police came to the scene of the fight and checked the HKID of everyone who was at the scene.
Unfortunately, this overstayed friend was also asked for his HKID. Unfortunately again, the police later found out that his HKID was fake.
“I have over-stayed for 2 years and used fake HKID for 1,5 years. As a result of these 2 mistakes, I was sentenced to 18 months in prison. But there is a reduction to 12 months, "he said. [Siti Ngatipah]
