Khurafat Month of Safar

IN worship and respond to anything, Muslims are required to follow Al-Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet. Charity worship that is not ordered and exemplified by the Prophet will not be accepted by Allah SWT alias mardud (rejected).

"Whoever makes a new case in our religion that has no origin, then that case is rejected." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).

"Whoever does a practice that is not our teaching, then the practice is rejected." (Narrated by Muslim).

Rejected practices include khurafat (superstitions, myths, fairy tales, fictional stories). Khurafat is a form of corruption in the Islamic faith. One of them is khurafat with respect to the month of Safar (Shofar, Shafar). In the days of Jahiliyah, there was a belief that the month of Safar was an unlucky month. This belief or myth / superstition was immediately denied by the Prophet.

Safar month is the second month after Muharram in the Islamic calendar (Hijriyah) which is based on the Qamariyah year (approximate month around the earth). Safar means empty. It was named Safar because during this month the Arabs used to leave their homes to attack their enemies.

The belief that Safar is an unlucky month or month of disaster is still believed by some people. In fact, the Apostle has confirmed the myth is not true

One of the khurafat practices that has appeared is the "Safar Bathing Party". When the month of Safar arrives, Muslims hold a shower ceremony together with the belief that it can wash away sins and reject reinforcements. Usually, this Safar bath practice is carried out on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar which is believed to be a day full of disasters.

The practice of bathing Safar to repel reinforcements and to wash away sins is a Hindu belief through the ritual "Sangam" which holds a sin-washing ceremony through a bath party in the river. Muslims must respect their beliefs, but must not imitate them.

Until now there are still Muslims who do not want to get married in the month of Safar because they believe in this khurafat. A belief that can plunge into the abyss of polytheism.

In fact, until there is a "special practice", for example on Wednesday reading the creed three times, istighfar 300 times, verse chairs seven times, Surah Al-Fiil seven times, and so on. Obviously, it is amalah khurafat and bid'ah which does not originate from Islamic teachings and is not exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad and his companions.

The full Khurafat month of Safar includes prohibitions on marriage and engagement, preventing traveling or traveling far, the last Wednesday of the month of Safar, the peak of unlucky days, ritual ceremonies of rejecting bad luck on the beach, river or house (Mandi Safar), reading certain incantations to refuse bala along Safar, entertains spirits who are said to be the cause of a disaster, considers babies born in Safar to have bad luck, Safar, the month of Allah, sends anger and punishment to the world. All of this is untrue and Muslims are obliged to deny this khurafat.

Bad luck, bad luck, or disaster can happen at any time, not only in the month of Safar, especially in the month of Safar. Allah Most High emphasized:

"Say:" It will not happen to Us, but what Allah has ordained for us. He is Our protector, and only in Allah those who believe must put their trust. " (Surah At-Taubah: 51).

There is no special or certain practice devoted to being celebrated in the month of Safar. The practice of the month of Safar is the same as the practices in other months. Beliefs regarding unlucky matters or reinforcements on a particular day, month and place are the beliefs of ignorant people before the arrival of Islam.

Rasulullah Saw said: "There is no plague and no ugliness of flying animals and no bad luck of the month of Safar and run (stay away) from leprosy as you flee from a lion" (Narrated by Bukhari).

May Allah SWT always give us strength and guidance, in order to avoid all forms of heresy, khurafat, and superstitions so that we will be safe from the abyss of polytheism. Amen! Allah knows best. (ASMR / www.risalahislam.com). *
