Cabinet Reshuffle, Yaqut, Sandiaga, Risma Become Minister

DDHK.ORG - Chairman Joko Widodo officially announced a cabinet reshuffle, Tuesday (22/12/2020). The new ministers will be sworn in tomorrow, Wednesday (23/12/2020) at the State Palace, Jakarta.

"On this happy day, I together with the Vice President would like to announce the new ministers who will be members of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet," Jokowi said at the Palace via a virtual broadcast, Tuesday (22/12/2020).

All new ministers are well-known figures. Namely, Tri Rismaharini as Minister of Social Affairs, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono as Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as Minister of Religion, Buni Gunadi Sadikin as Minister of Health, Sandiaga Salahudin Uno as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, and M Luthfi as Minister of Trade.

Risma replaces Jualiari Peter Batubara, who is now a suspected social assistance corruption suspect Covid-19 by the KPK. Risma is the Mayor of Surabaya for two terms.

Sandiaga Uno occupied the seat previously occupied by Wishnutama. Sandi is a former running mate of Prabowo Subianto during the 2014 Presidential Election.

Sakti Trenggono occupies the position previously held by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Previously, Sakti was the Deputy Minister of Defense.

Meanwhile, Yaqut removed Fachrul Razi from his position. The man who is also a Nahdlatul Ulama figure is the Chairman of the GP Anshor and a member of the Indonesian Parliament from the National Awakening Party.

Likewise Budi Sadikin, shifting Terawan Agus Putranto's position. Previously, Budi served as Deputy Minister of BUMN.
