Among the definitions of the heart in Arabic is qalb (قلب) which means something that can go back and forth. Whereas the heart is the place faith.

If faith in the heart is in good condition, surely all other members of the body will apply the fruit of that faith.
It is true that faith is a justification in the heart, a verbal pledge, and practice through the limbs.

Therefore, a believer is required to be able to maintain his determination so that he can always be istiqomah in his faith and Islam. Because faith can increase with obedience and can decrease with disobedience.

"From Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: 'Rasulullah shallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam, multiplying the prayer: "O Essence of the Most Turning Hearts, set my heart on Your religion." I asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, we believe in you, & with what you bring, are you worried about us?'. The Messenger of Allah replied: "Yes, the heart is between the two fingers (power) of the fingers (power) of Allah, He changes it according to His will."' (HR Tirmidhi & Ahmad)

Abdullah bin Amru bin 'Ash radliyãllahu 'anhuma said: 'Rasulullah shallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam said:

"Indeed, faith can wear out in the throat of one of you like a shirt wears out, so ask Allah to renew faith in your hearts." (Reported by Al-Hakim & Thabrani)

Therefore, one of the endeavors so that the heart is determined in faith and obedience is to pray. Among the prayers that can be said are the following:

"O Lord, who turns hearts, set my heart on Your religion."

“O our Lord, do not make our hearts incline to error after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You; for verily You are the Giver (gift).” {QS Ali Imran: 8}

This is in accordance with the history of the Ummul believers, Umm Salamah radliyallahu 'anha,

“That the Prophet Shallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam said the following prayer: O God, who turns hearts, set my heart on Your religion. Then recite the following verse: O our Lord, do not make our hearts incline to error after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Your side; for verily You are the Giver (gift).” (Reported by Ibn Abi Hatim)

Hope it is useful…

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
