There are Muslim women who wear hijabs but their behavior is not commendable, this is how to advise and reprimand them

Assalamualaikum. Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

If there is a Muslim woman who wears the hijab, and even masyaallah veils, but her character and behavior is not commendable, and makes videos like immoral people and tarnishes the image of Muslims around the world, should we report it?

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Wassalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarokaatuh.

Bismillah… A believer is a mirror for his brother. That is, it is the mirror that can reflect on ourselves so that we can know our own strengths and weaknesses. Because humans sometimes even most have selfish traits that want to be right for themselves.

Abu Hurairah said, "The Messenger of Allah -peace and prayer of Allah be upon him- said:

الْمُؤْمِنُ ا اً لَحَهُ (رواه البخاري)

“A believer is a mirror to his brother. If he sees a fault in his brother, then he corrects it." (HR Bukhari)

Thus, a believer has the right and obligation to advise other believers in goodness. This is because religion is advice.

The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said:

الدِّيْنُ النَّصِيْحَةُ لْنَا: لِمَنْ الَ للهِ لِكِتَابِهِ لِرَسُوْلِهِ لِأَئِمَّةِ المُسْلِمِيْنَ امَّتِهِمْ. (رَوَاهُ لِمٌ)

"Religion is advice." We asked, “For whom?” He replied, "To Allah, to His book, to His messenger, to the leaders of the Muslims, and to Muslims in general." (HR. Muslim, no. 55)

In advising, we must also pay attention to etiquette, including:

  1. Sincere in advising
  2. Do not vilify and embarrass people who are advised
  3. With wisdom and a good way
  4. Based on science and argument
  5. With a secret without the knowledge of others
  6. Be patient with those who are advised
  7. Ensuring the best time and condition of the person to be advised
  8. The advisor must have carried out the advice he conveyed
  9. Advice for the good of the affairs of this world and the hereafter

This is related to advice on personal mistakes such as disobedience to worship, bad morals, and so on. However, if the mistake is related to blasphemy, then we can report it to the authorities, but it is better if we remind him first so that the person concerned can think better and be aware and not repeat his actions again.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Regards!
