Mr. Ustadz, I want to ask a question. Can the interest on deposit savings be donated to educational foundations, social foundations, or to Islamic boarding schools, rather than not being taken?
Thank you, Ustadz.
Greetings, Fulanah
ANSWER:

Bismillah… Interest on savings, including deposits, is haraam. If it's already done, then take the money when it's time to take it.
As for taking interest from him for foundations or pesantren, if it is for physical development such as roads, bathrooms, or toilets, some scholars allow it. However, not for facilities directly related to worship such as mosques, waqf of the Qur'an, and the like.
It's even safer if we don't save in non-Islamic conventional banks.
Hope it works!
