The Price of Rice is Expensive, This is the Trade Minister's Comment

DDHK. ORG – Expensive rice prices are still encountered. This made the Minister of Trade question the distribution being carried out Logistics Bureau.

Reporting from Republika, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan still finds rice prices still high at the Depok Cisalak Market, West Java.

For medium rice, Rp. 10 per kilogram (kg) and premium prices, Rp. 12 per kg. This is far above the price from Bulog.

"For the price from Bulog Rp. 8.200 per kg, the only possible problem is from Bulog to the market, to take it to Bulog is limited, only big agents and selling it is even more expensive," said Zulhas during his visit to Cisalak Market, Depok City, West Java, Saturday (28/ 1/2023).

Zulhas said he wanted to know why the price of rice had not decreased, how it would be distributed from Bulog to the market, as happened with cooking oil from the factory to the market, how could the price be up to IDR 14 per kg.

"We have found the system, so oil prices are stable," he said.

Responding to this, Zulhas promised to later discuss how the Bulog price of Rp. 8.200 to Rp. 8.300 per kg exists and reaches the seller.

"We are still looking for a way to get to the buyer at a price of IDR 9.450 per kg," said the Trade Minister.

According to him, the high price of medium rice in the market is because Bulog's distribution to the public is still limited to large agents, so that when it arrives at the market, the price increases.

"If people take it to Bulog, it's limited, so big agents take it, so the price is expensive," said Zulhas.

Previously, during a visit to Depok, the Trade Minister said that basic food prices were still stable even if there were increases and decreases in prices, they were still fairly reasonable.

The Minister of Trade said that from his observations at the Cisalak Market in Depok, the price of red chilies has fallen while curly chilies have increased. But the increase is still reasonable, you can say stable.

Regarding the price of our oil which is selling well in the market, Zulhas stated that the supply will increase due to the increasing public demand.

"Our oil is selling well. In the past, sales were 1 to 2, 2 to 4, 4 to 8. The increase was in line with the good packaging, so everyone bought it. Of course, with the government's official price tag, "he concluded. [DDHK News]
