Conditions of the Hajj Dam in Ihram

(Serious study towards the Hajj Season)

DDHK. ORG – Provisions of the Hajj Dam are discussed in book of Al-Majmu' the style of Syarhil Muhadzab by Imam An-Nawawi. In the book there are four categories of dams the hadj, as follows:

  1. Tartib and Taqdir

Provisions on the Tartib and Taqdir Hajj Dam are intended for pilgrims who perform the tamattu' pilgrimage, the qiran pilgrimage and those who commit several violations of the obligatory pilgrimage, including:

– Not intending (ihram) from Miqat Makani

– Do not die at Muzdalifah without a syar'i reason

– Do not die in Mina without a syar'i reason

- Not throwing jumrah

- Do not perform Tawaf Wada'

The payment of this pilgrimage fine is in the form of slaughtering a goat. If unable to slaughter a goat, then the person concerned must carry out 10 days of fasting with the following conditions:

  • Three days of fasting are observed during the pilgrimage
  • The remaining seven days are carried out in the hometown/country of origin.

  1. Tartib and Ta'dil

Provisions on dam pilgrimage tartib and ta'dil are intended for a muhrim who has a husband-wife relationship before the initial tahallu and before the entire umrah series is completed. The payment for this pilgrimage is in the form of slaughtering a camel.

If you are unable to slaughter a camel, you can replace it with a cow or ox. If still unable, can be replaced by slaughtering seven goats.

The payment starts from the time the violation occurred with the provision that all the pilgrimage/umrah pilgrimage must be completed and the pilgrimage/umrah pilgrimage must be repeated because the pilgrimage/umrah is invalid.

  1. Takhyir and Ta'dil

The provisions of the takhyir and ta'dil pilgrimage dams are dams that are intended for muhrim who hunt animals while in Haram or halal land after ihram. This dam is also intended for muhrim who cut down or uproot trees in Mecca's unclean land.

Payment of fines for this category of dams is in the form of slaughtering an animal comparable to the animal being hunted or feeding the poor in Mecca at the price of the animal being hunted. If you can't do that, you can pay a fine by fasting an amount of mud equivalent to the animal being hunted.

  1. Takhir and Fate

The provisions of the takhyir and taqdir pilgrimage dams are dams that are intended for pilgrims who do the following:

Throwing/removing/cutting hair.

Wearing clothes that are prohibited in ihram such as sewing clothes, hats, jewelery and so on.

Painting/cutting nails.

Wearing perfume.

Payment of the fine is in the form of slaughtering a goat or giving alms to six poor people. If you can't do it, you can pay a fine by fasting for three days. Wallaahu a'lam.

Hopefully the prospective pilgrims can carry out Hajj and Umrah perfectly, and do not violate the prohibition of ihram. [DDHK News]
