The Prophet's Prayers: Pillars of Shafi'i Madzhab Prayer (Part 1)

DDHK.ORG - The practice of praying from the time of our ancestors to the present day generally uses the standard of prayer described by the Shafi'i school of thought. This is because the majority of the Indonesian population is generally the Shafi'i school of thought. The scholars who spread Islam in the archipelago, of course, were also scholars of the Shafi'i school of thought. So automatically the practice of prayer is based on the fiqh of the Shafi'i school of thought.

Through this series, DDHK News will describe the nature of the prayer of the Prophet Muhammad based on the Shafi'i school, as written by Muhammad Ajib, Lc., MA. in his book The Evidence Sahih The Nature of the Prayer of the Prophet Ala Madzhab Syafi'iy.

In the Shafi'i Madzhab the components of prayer are divided into 3 parts. Namely, the pillars of prayer, sunnah ab'adh, and sunnah hai'at.

The pillars of prayer mean something that we must do when praying. If these pillars of prayer are left behind then our prayer is invalid. For example, there is a person who prays but he does not read Surah Al Fatihah then his prayer is invalid.

So basically the pillars of prayer are obligatory to do. To find out whether our prayer is valid or not, it depends on whether the pillars of prayer are fulfilled or not.

Well, in the Shafi'i Madhhab there are 13 pillars of prayer. There are also those who say 14 and 17. Actually all these numbers are the same because the difference is only about the difference in how to count them. The content remains the same.

For those who combine bowing, i'tidal, prostration and sitting between 2 prostrations with tuma'ninah in each of them being one point, then the total is 13 pillars. Or also tuma'ninah becomes a separate point then the number is 14 pillars.

However, if you separate each one between bowing, i'tidal, prostration and sitting between 2 prostrations and tuma'ninah, there are a total of 17 pillars. [continued] [DDHKNews]
