Hajj Intentions

Intention occupies an important position in every worship. Both prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage.

Intention is the difference between one service and another worship. The Zuhr prayer, for example, in terms of its implementation is not much different from the Asr prayer, namely four cycles and the readings are the same. In addition to the time of execution, the Zuhr and Asr prayers are distinguished by intention.

Therefore, it is important for prospective pilgrims to know the intentions of the pilgrimage as the first pillar in the pilgrimage. The intention of pilgrimage is often termed ihram. Imam An-Nawawi in Al-Majmu' Syarah Al-Muhadzdzab said,

message
"Ihram is the intention in the heart, namely the intention to perform the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage."

Intention of Hajj Ifrad and Tamattu'

For those who are going to perform Hajj in Ifrad (haj first then perform Umrah), or Hajj Tamattu' (performing Umrah first and then Hajj), then the intention of Hajj is:

نَوَيْتُ الْحَجَّ وَأَحْرَمْتُ بِهِ لِلهِ تَعَالَى لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ بحَجًةِ
“I intend to perform Hajj and enter ihram because of Allah SWT. I respond to Your call, O Allah, for pilgrimage."

Hajj Qiran
As for the Qiran pilgrimage, which is carried out collectively, the intention is:

نَوَيْتُ Almighty Allah مْرَةِ
"I intend to perform haj and umrah and I am in ihram with both of them because of Allah Ta'ala, I welcome your call, O Allah, with hajj and umrah."

The intention for Tamattu pilgrims after the completion of the pilgrimage, the intention can be recited on Tarwiyyah day, 8 Dzulhijjah in Mecca.

Hopefully we can strengthen the pilgrimage, and expedite all the processes of the pilgrimage.
