Hungry Eyes When Breaking Fast, Danger

DDHK. ORG - Eye hunger is often experienced when someone is fast. This becomes something dangerous if obeyed.

As reported Republic, nutritionist from Airlangga University (Unair) Dominikus Raditya Atmaka warned of the dangers of the eye hunger phenomenon when breaking the fast. Fasting, which should be healthy for the body, can actually be the opposite if you can't control your appetite when you break your fast.

Dominikus explained, in hungry conditions, the brain will send a signal to eat. As a result, there is a desire to eat foods that are considered delicious.

If this eye hunger is left and complied with, then consumption will be more than it should be. This can cause weight gain, and be a trigger for it to come various diseases.

"For that, we need the ability to refrain from hunger and cravings during fasting so that we can better regulate the number of calories that enter the body," said Dominikus, Tuesday (11/4/2023).

When breaking the fast, continued Dominikus, choose foods that can provide glucose intake in a short time. Dates can be an option when breaking the fast, like the sunnah exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad in fasting.

After appetizers, move on to foods that are more energy dense, fluids and vitamins. For example fruit salad and vegetable soup.

"Make sure when breaking your fast, consume large amounts of fluids to replace the lack of fluids during the day," he said.

Dominikus also advised to eat food with the principle of balanced nutrition in a porous mode that is not excessive when breaking the fast. In addition, fluid intake also needs to be fulfilled to avoid dehydration.

Dominikus reminded, what is no less important is to increase the consumption of vegetables and fruit. This can meet the daily needs of fiber, vitamins and minerals. [DDHK News]
