Halal Tourism in Hong Kong by Nirina Zubir

DDHK. ORG – Halal tourism is something that can be done while visiting Hong Kong. This was disclosed by Nirina Zubir who had lived for a long time at Hong Kong. As a Muslim, Nirina has tips for Muslims traveler who vacation there.

Hong Kong is the 5th Non-OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) destination in Asia. As a multicultural city, Hong Kong is very Muslim friendly.

Reporting from Seconds, Nirina Zubir who attended the Iftar with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) at Habitate Jakarta, shared her experience while living there. Nirina also gives it to those who are going there for the first time and want to have a halal tour.

“Eating is easy, there are many vegetarian restaurants, there are several certified restaurants halal, " he said.

Nirina explained that Hong Kong restaurants need to work hard to get halal certificates. But that doesn't mean it's hard to find, especially since Hong Kong has street food that gets a Michelin Star.

“It's easy, now that there is a Halal KFC, then if you want to look for a Turkish or Middle Eastern restaurant. It is definitely halal even though there is no halal logo," he said.

One of the most favorite and well-known delicious is the Islamic Center Canteen at the Ammar and Osman Ramju Sadick Mosque. This canteen is on the 5th floor.

“Besides culinary tourism, you can also shop. Hong Kong is famous for being a sneaker launching place. In other places it doesn't exist, here it already is," he explained.

However, Nirina reminded Indonesian travelers not to be nervous when communicating with Hong Kong people. Unlike Indonesians who like small talk, Hong Kong people seem stiff and tough.

"Don't be upset, they think their voices are loud, they are angry, even though they are. For that, don't hesitate to ask for the details of the item you want," he explained.

Peak Tram + Sky Terrace, Mongkok, K11 MUSEA and Disneyland are a series of popular tours that are recommended by Nirina.

"Shopping tips, we have to know the details of the goods. If the price is too low, it means that the goods are not necessarily authentic, but small shops also have authentic goods. So you have to know the goods and prices," he concluded. [DDHK News]
