Despite the chaos, the DDHK Team still visited Indonesian citizens at Lo Wu Prison

LO WU | HONG KONG - Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) tries to keep running dakwah and social humanitarian programs for Indonesian citizens (WNI) and Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in the Land of Concrete. However, security conditions are uncertain. One of them, a visit to the prison.

"Bismillah, even though the situation is not yet conducive and arguably heats up, the DDHK Team and several PMI continue to carry out routine visits to Lo Wu prison," said Mia, one of the DDHK volunteers who also attended the Lo Wu Correctional Center (Lo Wu Prison), Sunday (17/11/2019).

The majority of Indonesian citizens detained in these prisons are caught in drug abuse cases. "Hopefully, with the trials they are currently facing, they will become better servants," said Mia.

Lure of Money and Travel Abroad for Free

The woman from Sumatra with the initials SA, one of whom the DDHK team visited at Lo Wu Prison, told the chronology that she was caught in a drug case until she ended up being imprisoned in Hong Kong. "He knows people from the African continent who live in Malaysia through online, who seduce him with the lure of lots of money and travel abroad for free," said Mia, retelling the SA story.

SA was tempted. He also came to Malaysia and was asked to bring "goods" to Hong Kong. At Immigration, SA escaped and spent the night in the Land of Concrete, before continuing on to mainland China.

"But unlucky it can't be helped. SA was arrested by Hong Kong Immigration officers on the border with China, ”said Mia.

Now, SA has served 5 years of detention. "God willing, in 2022 I will be released (from prison)," said SA, as told by Mia. [DDHKNews]
