In reading the book about the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad shallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam, there is usually one occasion when the congregation who is present stands for a moment while reciting verses of poetry containing greetings & blessings to him.

This situation is commonly referred to as mahallul qiyam. Mahallul qiyam comes from the word mahall (مَحَلّ) which means place, while al-qiyam (الْقِيَام) means standing.

The meaning of mahallul qiyam is the moment when the congregation who was present at the maulid recitation ceremony got up from their seats to stand for a moment as an expression of joy in commemorating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad shallallãhu alaihi wasallam.

Some Ulama consider that Mallulul Qiyam is mustahsan (considered good). Al-Imam Az-Zain Ja'far Al-Barzanji in his book Maulid Al-Barzanji p. 77 mentions:

"The imams of history consider it good to stand when it is mentioned the noble birth of his (Prophet Muhammad shallallãhu alaihi wasallam) ♡ So happy for anyone who glorifies him shallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam so that he is conveyed to his goals & objectives."

In the book Thabaqat Asy-Syafi'iyah volume 6 p. 174 it is stated that Al-Imam As-Subki Al-Kabir Rahimahullah explained that this had been cited by the scholars, and his son Al-Taj (Tajuddin As-Subki) Rahimahullah narrated it by saying:

“Father once attended a khataman at the Umayyad Mosque, where judges and state figures were present in front of him. When the reciter recites Al-Sarsari's poem, then there is one occasion where they all stand up."

The argument for standing for a moment when reading the story of the Prophet, especially the birthday, is the standing of the companions when they saw the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam.

Among the readings of mahallul qiyam are:

may Allah bless him and give him peace and blessings

God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing

God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing

love

may Allah bless him and give him peace of mind

love

God bless you

God willing

God willing, God willing, God willing, God willing

But if you want to shorten it, that's okay. Like reading half of the verse above without the whole.

Wallãhu a'lam

Hope it is useful…

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
