Hong Kong is in the heat until August 3rd

DDHK.ORG - The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) predicts that Hong Kong will continue to experience very hot weather until the end of July. Even this extreme weather will continue until August 3, 2022.

"A high anticyclone will cause persistently hot weather to southern China for the remainder of this week and early next week," the HKO's official website reported Wednesday (27/7/2022), describing Hong Kong's general weather conditions.

This is a continuation of the hot weather that has plagued Hong Kong and many other parts of the world in recent times. On Sunday, Hong Kong even experienced its third hottest day since 1884. The thermometer at HKO's headquarters recorded 36,1 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, the hottest day in July.

The hot weather in the Land of Concrete has claimed lives. Among them, a 60-year-old man died after falling unconscious while hiking in West Dog's Teeth, Lantau Island.

Police said they received a report at around 10am that the man was unconscious at the scene. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, a man suffered a heat stroke while hiking at Sharp's Peak, Sai Kung. He was suspected of having suffered heatstroke and was pronounced dead after being flown to hospital.

On Sunday, a 33-year-old Indonesian migrant worker also fainted while hiking, while walking near Kai Kung Leng from Fan Kam Street in Pat Heung. He was declared dead after being taken to the hospital. [DDHKNews]
