Get to know Miqat Makani and Zamani in the Hajj

(Serious study towards the 2023 Hajj season)

DDHK. ORG – Miqat is a time limit and a place that has been determined by syara' as a starting line or starting the implementation of the Hajj.

Miqat is divided into two, which are related to the time of implementation of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages Miqat Zamani, and those related to places are called Miqat Makani.

Miqat Zamani is the time limit (start of time until the deadline) for performing Hajj, which starts from the 1st of Shawwal until dawn on the 10th of Dzulhijjah or the end of the month of Dzulhijjah -and this is the rajih opinion-, because Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says,

God bless you

“(Season) Hajj is a few months that are understandable.” (Qs. al-Baqarah: 197)

The word "asyhur" is a plural word (from the word "syahrun" which means "one month"), while the origin of the plural means essence. The meaning of mentioning the time in the plural is that Hajj can be carried out between these three months, and may not be carried out at any time, but Hajj has certain days except for the Tawaf and Sa'i services.

If we say that all the days of the month of Dzulhijjah are the days of Hajj, then it is permissible for a person to end the Tawaf ifadah and sa'i Hajj until the end of the month of Dzulhijjah and may not end them later than that except because of old age, such as if a woman gets her period before performing thawaf ifadah and menstruation do not end until the month of Dzulhijjah is over.

Thus, the woman is allowed to end the ifadah tawaf due to an absence. That is what is called the Miqat Zamani in Hajj.

Meanwhile, for Umrah, the miqat of the time is valid throughout the year.

Meanwhile, Miqat Makani is the place where you can start the ihram for Hajj or Umrah. Another meaning can also mean the provision of a place where a congregation must start the intention of Hajj or Umrah.
