DDHK News, France - French Muslims are calling on the government to enact regulations that prohibit insulting religion.
"Insulting the Prophet should be prohibited under French law," said Abdelkebir Kotbi, the director of the French Islamic Organization, last weekend.
Kotbi's call came amid the emergence of a wave of Islamophobic attacks targeting French Muslims, following the attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine, a satire magazine that often publishes cartoons ridiculing the Prophet Muhammad.
In less than a week, France's Muslim community experienced more than 50 attacks, according to data from the Central Council of Muslims in France (CCIF).
