God willing, in 9 months I will finish the contract. The plan is that I want to add another work contract, because frankly I still have a debt that has not been paid off.
But the problem is, my husband doesn't allow me to add another work contract. I was sent home anyway.
Actually, my husband knows I still owe a lot of debt. He said he wanted to pay it in installments or pay it off later, when I returned to Indonesia. But I'm a little doubtful, because in Indonesia finding a job is a bit more difficult than here (Hong Kong).
What I ask, what should I do now? Do I obey my husband or do I still add a work contract?
Is there a practice that I can do so that in these 3 months I can pay off my debt? Please enlighten and guide, Mr. Ustadz.

Bismillah… Working for a living is basically the husband's obligation. As for the wife, it is not obligatory for him, except if permitted by her husband in order to help cover and provide for household needs.
Working abroad certainly has a very big challenge for married couples. They must be loyal to each other and maintain trust.
If our workplace is close to our family and hometown, that's even better. However, if working in a distant place is more sufficient, then it is permissible to do so as long as you maintain the relationship between your spouse and family.
The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said:
ادَةِ اْلمَرْءِ الِحَةً لاَدُهُ ارًا لَطَائُهُ الِحِيْنَ لَدِهِ (رواه الديلمي)
"Four kinds of human happiness, namely a pious wife, filial children, his friends are good people, and his livelihood is in his own country (hometown)." (HR Dalami)
If the husband really wants his wife to go home immediately and not have to extend the work contract abroad, even though the wife's desire to keep extending the contract is because she wants to pay off her debt, then my advice is to follow the husband's desire to go home and work in his hometown with lots of efforts and prayers. in order to get blessings so that they can pay off their debts. Because obedience to the husband for the wife is obligatory as long as it does not disobey Allah Subhanahu wata'ala. Except, if the husband still allows to work abroad as long as there is good that we can get.
Here are some prayers that can be said to be free from debt:
- اللَّهمَّ اكْفِنِي لَالِكَ حَرَامِكَ لِكَ اكَ
"O Allah, suffice (for) me with what is lawful (from) You from what is unlawful. And enrich me with Your bounty from anyone but You."
- اللَّهُمَّ مِنَ الْهَمِّ الْحَزَنِ، مِنَ العَجْزِ الكَسَلِ، الجُبْنِ الْبُخْلِ، بِكَ لَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ الرِّجَالِ
"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow. I seek refuge in You from weakness and laziness. I seek refuge in You from cowardice and cowardice. And I seek refuge in You from the bondage of debt and the coercion of people."
- لَا لَهَ لَّا انَكَ الظَّالِمِينَ
"There is no god but You, Glory to You, indeed I am of the wrongdoers."
