217 Gazans Died As A Result Of Israeli Air Attacks

DDHK.ORG - Israeli actions that continue to attack the Gaza Strip, Palestine, to this day have killed 217 people. Reported by AFP on Wednesday (19/5/2021), the number of casualties could increase because Israel continued to carry out air strikes on the Gaza Strip throughout Tuesday. The attack reportedly left more than 1.400 residents of the Gaza Strip injured.

Meanwhile, the death toll on the Israeli side as a result of rocket attacks launched by militias in the Gaza Strip increased to 12. Reportedly, two Thai citizens who worked at a factory in the southern Eshkol region, Israel, died after their workplace was hit by a Hamas rocket. In addition, several factory workers were also injured.

Casualties Increase in West Bank and Ramallah

Separately, Palestinians in the West Bank yesterday staged demonstrations against Israel's attack on the Gaza Strip and rejected the expulsion of Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem. The demonstrators ended up in clashes with Israeli security forces.

In Ramallah, it was reported that two Israeli soldiers were injured in clashes with Palestinians. In addition, Israel said one of their soldiers in Hebron was the target of an attack by Palestinians, and that the perpetrator was shot dead.

Meanwhile, according to information from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Israeli security forces shot dead four civilians in the West Bank. That brings the death toll in clashes that have erupted since May 10 in Jerusalem to 24.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said the wounded in yesterday's rallies in the West Bank and Jerusalem reached 150. As many as 35 of them suffered gunshot wounds due to live bullets.

Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces in the Sheikh Jarrah area also occurred again. Israeli forces fired tear gas and used water cannons to repel Palestinians.

Fighting between Israel and Hamas erupted on May 10, a few days before Eid. The reason Hamas launched the rocket attack was to retaliate against the attitude of Israeli security forces who obstructed and attacked Palestinians who were praying at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.

In addition, they also responded to the attitude of illegal Israeli settlers who wanted to expel Palestinian residents who live in the Sheikh Jarrah area, east of Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Israel said it retaliated against Hamas attacks and tried to protect its inhabitants from terrorist acts. [Source: CNN Indonesia] [DDHKNews]
