"A total of 141 cases of HIV infection were reported in the second quarter of this year, the Center for Health Protection announced today," published on the official website of the Government of Hong Kong, news.gov.hk, on Tuesday (25/8/2020).

Of the new cases, 124 were male and 17 female. In addition, the total reported HIV infection in Hong Kong has been 10.550 cases since 1984. “A total of 79 people contracted the virus through homosexual or bisexual contact, 24 cases contracted through heterosexual contact, while one contracted via drug injection. As many as 37 other cases have not been determined, "wrote the Hong Kong Government.

The Hong Kong Center for Health Protection says sex remains the main mode of transmission of HIV. For this reason, the Center for Protection emphasizes the importance of using appropriate condoms in reducing the risk of contracting HIV.
