Welcoming Ramadan, the Government of Mecca Cleans the Kaaba

washing the Ka'bahDDHK News, Saudi Arabia - Welcoming Ramadan 1435 H., the city government of Mecca cleans the Kaaba of the Haram Mosque, Thursday (29/5). The Ka'bah washing ceremony was chaired by the Governor of Mecca, Prince Mishal Bin Abdullah, on behalf of the King of Saudi Arabia Abdullah.

A number of officials of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ministers, clerics, diplomats of Muslim countries, as well as residents and visitors to the Grand Mosque, attended the ceremony.

The washing ceremony of the Ka'bah was held following the example of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAW after entering the Ka'bah at the time of the conquest of Mecca.

The ritual of washing the Ka'bah, usually carried out at the beginning of Ramadan, begins with two rak'ah prayers led by Prince Mishal.

The interior walls are then cleaned with Zamzam water mixed with rose water, followed by perfume using a white cloth.

Zamzam water mixed with rose water is sprinkled with a white cloth, the floor is also cleaned. After cleaning the floors and walls, dry again with a white cloth. The walls are then scented.

The Ka'bah is the house of Allah (Baitullah), also called "the house of independence (Baitul Atiq) which is the direction of the Qibla of Muslims around the world in prayer. The Ka'bah is the first building on earth: "Indeed, the first house built for human (place of worship), is the Baitullah in Bakkah (Mecca) which is blessed and becomes a guide for all mankind."
