Pillars of Hajj and Obligatory Hajj

(Serial study towards the Hajj season 2023)

DDHK. ORG - Shafi'i schools distinguish between the pillars of Hajj and the obligatory Hajj. The difference between the two is not found in other worship. The pillars of this pilgrimage become the core part of the pilgrimage. This pillar determines the legitimacy of the pilgrimage. The pillars of this pilgrimage cannot be replaced with other fines.

As for the obligatory Hajj, if one of them is left alone, then it is obligatory to pay women (fine).

Related to the Pillars of Hajj The scholars differ slightly in mentioning the pillars of Hajj. Some scholars mention the five pillars of Hajj. Some other scholars mention the six pillars of Hajj.

Part liaison separating ihram and intention of ihram as follows:

Help us

Meaning, "There are five pillars of Hajj: ihram, intention, standing at Arafah, tawaf at the Kaaba, and sai on Safa and Marwa," (Taqrib on Kifayatul Akhrar)

Some of them combine ihram and intention in one harmonious count. While they mention shaving as the fifth pillar of Hajj.

God bless you

Meaning, "There are five pillars of Hajj: ihram and intention, standing at Arafah, tawaf at the Kaaba, sai on Safa and Marwa, and shaving," (Matan Abi Syuja).

While the obligatory pilgrimage in the book Busyral Karim, Sheikh Sa'id Ba'asyin mentions that there are six obligatory pilgrimages as follows:

  1. Mabit at Muzdalifah.
  2. Throw the Jumrah Aqabah seven times.
  3. Throw three jumrah on tasyriq day (11, 12 and 13 Dzulhijjah).
  4. Mabit on tasyriq night.
  5. Ihram from miqat.
  6. Tawaf wada.

Although the obligatory pilgrimage has no effect on the validity of the pilgrimage, one who leaves it without any excuse is subject to the sin of neglect. Wallahu a'lam.

Hopefully we can carry out the pilgrimage in harmony and the obligatory pilgrimage perfectly. [DDHK News]
