Mount Merapi Eruption Alert, Dompet Dhuafa Establish 4 Posts in Magelang, Sleman, Klaten, and Boyolali

DDHK.ORG - Mount Merapi has been assigned Alert status (level 3) since November 5, 2020. Until now, the mountain, which is located on the border of Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region, continues to experience eruptions.

As a response to the Merapi eruption alert status, Disaster Management Center (RCD) Dompet Dhuafa set up posts in four places. Namely, in Magelang, Sleman, Klaten and Boyolali.

In Boyolali, pos Dompet Dhuafa is located in Klakah, Jrakah, Tlogolele. In Klaten, located in Pemukti Baru, Tlogo, Prambanan. In Sleman, pos Dompet Dhuafa located at Puntuk Hamlet, RT.01 / RW.07 Umbulmartani Village, Ngemplak District. Meanwhile in Magelang, the post is located at South Kaliurang, Kaliurang, Srumbung.

Based on the DMC report Dompet Dhuafa, Sunday (24/1/2021), seismograph recordings carried out by PVMBG, on January 23, 2021, recorded that Mount Merapi experienced 1 avalanche of hot clouds earthquake, 142 times of avalanche earthquakes, and 15 times of hybrid earthquakes.

Current Conditions

During the day, the mobility of some residents returns to their homes for activities. Some went to the fields, looking for grass to feed livestock. By late afternoon, residents who were doing their activities returned to their posts to spend the night.

At the Magelang post, residents need logistical assistance, health services and assistance for the elderly and children, equipment and food for toddlers, milk, first aid kit, and toiletries.

In Sleman, the refugees at Glagaharjo Village Hall are dominated by elderly people and children. During the day, refugees in Glagaharjo Village return home to carry out activities.

"The team received the latest information that on January 26, 2021, the refugees at the Glagaharjo Command Post began returning to their homes. Including their livestock, ”wrote the DMC in its report.

In Klaten, the permanent residents at the Balerante refugee camp are the elderly, children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers. During the day, some residents returned to their homes for activities. Some of them go to the fields to find grass for livestock. Late in the afternoon, residents who were doing their activities returned to the post for the night.

"Here, psycho-social services for children and the elderly are needed," wrote the DMC in its report.

Meanwhile, in Boyolali, Merapi activity was observed to be quite high. Refugees are still staying at the temporary refugee camp in Tlogo Lele. They need logistical supplies, health services and assistance for children and the elderly. [DDHK News]
