Cabinet Reshuffle: President Jokowi Appoints 1 Minister and 5 New Deputy Ministers

Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed Budi Arie Setiadi as Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo), at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (17/07/2023) morning. Apart from that, in this cabinet reshuffle, President Jokowi also appointed five deputy ministers (wamen) who will fill the Indonesia Onward Cabinet for the remainder of the term of office for the 2019-2024 period.

"Budi's appointment as Minister of Communication and Informatics was carried out based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 62/P of 2023 concerning the Appointment of the Minister of Communication and Informatics to the Indonesia Onward Cabinet for the 2019-2024 period," as published by the official website of the RI Cabinet Secretariat.

Budi Arie Setiadi served as minister to replace Johnny G. Plate, the previous Minister of Communication and Information who was caught up in a corruption case. Previously, Budi served as Deputy Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration.

Meanwhile, the five deputy ministers appointed by President Jokowi based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 32/M of 2023 concerning Dismissal and Appointment of Deputy State Ministers of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet for the 2019-2024 period are:
1. Pahala Nugraha Mansury as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs;
2. Nezar Patria as Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology;
3. Paiman Raharjo as Deputy Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration;
4. Rosan Perkasa Roeslani as Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN); And
5. Saiful Rahmat as Deputy Minister of Religion.

"I swear/promise that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will implement all laws and regulations as strictly as possible for the sake of my service to the nation and state. That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of office, work to the best of my ability, with full sense of responsibility," said the President dictating the oath of office for the new Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

The inauguration was attended by Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Wiranto, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy, Minister Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Retno LP Marsudi, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno, and Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) ) Pramono Anung.
