NU Hong Kong Commemorates National Santri Day at Victoria Park

DDHK.ORG - Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) extended family Hong Kong, on Sunday, October 24, 2021, held a commemoration ceremony for National Santri Day at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay. The event, which was held by the Hong Kong NU Special Branch Management (PCI), involved all components of NU in the Concrete Country, such as Muslimat, Fatayat, Pagar Nusa, NU Care-Lazisnu, the Branch Representative Council, and the NU branch taklim assembly. Also present at the event was the Consul of the Indonesian National Police, Police Commissioner Agung Wahyudi, representing the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong.

Around 200 people attended the ceremony which took place solemnly. Kompol Agung Wahyudi acted as the Ceremony Supervisor. In his address, the Consul General said that Consul General Ricky Suhendar and all staff of the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong wished all Nahdliyin a Happy National Santri Day in Hong Kong and Macau.

"Hopefully all NU members in Hong Kong and Macau maintain personal and organizational security, as well as maintain health and be able to become pioneers for other PMIs (Indonesian migrant workers) in helping break the chain of the spread of Covid-19 in Hong Kong and Macau," said the Consul. Great.

He also advised the Hong Kong NU extended family to continue to maintain the spirit of togetherness and friendship, in order to maintain cohesiveness and togetherness in overseas countries. "Continue to cooperate with the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong and Indonesian entities in Hong Kong in the context of delivering information and capacity building programs for PMI," he said.

Istighotsah and sholawatan together were held after the National Santri Day commemoration ceremony at Victoria Park.

The elected chairman of the Hong Kong PCINU Tanfidziyah, Ustadz Kistiawanto Ubaidillah, admitted that he was grateful to be able to organize the commemoration of National Santri Day while the pandemic was still endemic. "Despite the pandemic, thank God we, the PMIs, are still able to carry out the HSN (National Santri Day) together," said this migrant worker from Kendal, Central Java.

After the ceremony, there was an istighotsah and the reading of prayers for the Prophet SAW together in a white tent which is still located in Victoria Park. Also attending the event was the President of the Association of Indonesian Muslim Organizations in Hong Kong (Posmih), Ustadz Mahmudi Abdussalam.

As is known, the stipulation of October 22 as National Santri Day after the issuance of Presidential Decree number 22 of 2015 by President Joko Widodo, is a form of the Government's attention to students.
