Jack Ma Receives an Honorary Professorship from the University of Hong Kong

DDHK. ORG – Jack Ma, founder Alibaba, received an honorary professor award at the University Hong Kong (HKU). He returned to teaching after successfully building the Alibaba business empire.

As reported Seconds from SCMP, Saturday (22/4/2023), previously Ma was invited to become an honorary professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics on April 1, 2023. He currently holds the position of honorary professor for a three-year term ending in March 2026.

“We are pleased to confirm that Mr Ma is honored to accept the invitation as we believe the appointment will make effective use of his experience and entrepreneurial ideas,” said the Jack Ma Foundation.

"After his hiatus from education, Mr. Ma hopes to return to campus life and collaborate with faculty and students in his appointments (at HKU), while focusing his research on education and business innovation," they added.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for the University of Hong Kong said that Ma is a visionary and accomplished businessman. For that they are very grateful for the willingness of this big Alibaba boss to become a professor at the university.

"Thanking Ma for accepting the invitation to take up this esteemed position... and for sharing his rich knowledge and experience in innovation and business development with students and faculty," explained an HKU spokesperson.

For information, before serving as honorary professor, Jack Ma was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Social Sciences in 2018 by HKU.

As for now, he has relinquished all positions in the company he built, Alibaba. In addition, Jack Ma is also known to have disbursed his voting rights at Ant Group, the fintech giant that operates the Alipay electronic payment platform. [DDHK News]
