Istiqlal Mosque Holds Congregational Tarawih Prayers Normally

DDHK.ORG - The Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta, has decided to hold congregational Tarawih Prayers and other religious activities in the month of Ramadan 1443 H this year even though it is still in the midst of the corona virus pandemic (Covid-19). All activities were carried out normally, including the arrangement of the prayer rows that were not spaced apart.

"Yes, there is [holding congregational Tarawih prayers]," said the Deputy Chair of the Istiqlal Mosque Worship Organizer, Abu Hurairah, as reported by CNN Indonesia, Friday (18/3/2022).

In addition to congregational tarawih and obligatory prayers in congregation will be held with a meeting staff, Istiqlal will also hold i'tikaf worship activities, tadarrus Alquran, Fajr lectures, Lailatul Qadar prayer, sahur together, to iftar together. "There is also the distribution of takjil, zakat, compensation for orphans, Eid takbiran and others," said Abu.

He said that the congregational prayer service in congregation at Istiqlal had been running since last Tuesday, March 15.

During the month of Ramadan in 1441 H/2020 AD, the Istiqlal Mosque did not hold various worship activities as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. All religious activities at the Istiqlal Mosque at that time were completely closed.

In Ramadan 1442 H last year, Istiqlal opened limited Ramadan worship activities. At that time, Istiqlal only held Tarawih Prayers in congregation with strict health protocols. However, Istiqlal did not hold Eid Prayers 1442 H. [Source: CNN Indonesia] [DDHKNews]
