Ruling on praying in the toilet, is it permissible?

DDHK. ORG - Praying in the toilet, is it permissible? On the rubric Fiqh this time will be discussed in detail.

The conditions for a valid prayer are the purity of the place, clothes and body. As for the case of prayer in toilet usually happens to migrant workers in Hong Kong or some Muslim students in Japan. These two events have different causes.

First, praying in the toilet for migrant workers in Hong Kong is mostly caused by the prohibition of non-Muslim employers from praying in the apartment or house they own.

Usually every house has a CCTV so that it can monitor the activities of the migrant worker who works. If he prays in a room that is visible to the CCTV, then he is at risk of being fired from his job.

In responding to this case, three things can be done. First, reporting the employer's behavior to the agency that sent him to work in the apartment. This is because every migrant worker has the right to practice their own religion.

If the place of work does not allow him to practice his religion, then it can be reported as a legal case, namely a violation of freedom of religion.

Second, look for a new place of work or return to your country of origin.

Third, if the two options above are not possible then praying in the toilet is permissible if it is clean and holy.

The understanding of toilets in Indonesia is certainly different from that in developed countries. Toilets in developed countries clean and dryg. But looking clean is not necessarily holy. So a migrant worker has to make sure the place where he prays is holy or not.

This is based on the hadith of the Prophet SAW "Prayer is not accepted if it is not holy." (HR. Muslim)

As for the second case, please note that prayer does not have to be in the mosque or mushalla. Prayers can be performed in libraries, classrooms, fields and even sidewalks.

As mentioned earlier, the condition for the validity of prayer is purity. So, in its application when praying in a place other than a mosque or mushalla, it must be ensured that the place is clean from dirt.
Cleanliness is one of the common sights in developed countries. Therefore, in this case, praying in the toilet is not permitted.

This is based on the hadith of the prophet SAW "Allah made the earth a mosque for me."
