Hong Kong urges employers to ban foreign domestic workers from leaving their homes on holidays

DDHK.ORG - As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to escalate, the Hong Kong Government will strictly enforce the ban on gatherings of more than 2 people. Chief Executive Carrie Lam said it was likely the Concrete Country would take several months to stabilize again.

He also urged employers to prevent their foreign domestic workers from going out on holidays. At the same time, a ban on gatherings on Sundays, which is the general holiday for foreign domestic workers in Hong Kong, will be strictly enforced.

"We will show no mercy in law enforcement," said Carrie Lam, Friday (18/2/2022).

Another "strong measure" to be implemented in Hong Kong would be to carry out several rounds of mandatory testing for all Hong Kongers in order to "completely eradicate" the virus. “Mandatory testing and a complete city lockdown may not necessarily go hand in hand. It depends on the actual situation. In our case, after examining the unique situation in Hong Kong, we will probably just do universal testing for everyone, a few times,” said Carrie Lam.

The government will also build various emergency isolation facilities and treatment facilities to deal with the surge in the number of Covid patients. Lam said it was sad to see many elderly people waiting outside public hospitals before they could be treated.

He called it a situation that "shouldn't have happened and that's unacceptable."

He also asked the residences not to refuse to take back senior citizens deemed worthy of being released by the hospital. [Source: RTHK] [DDHKNews]
