Disneyland Hong Kong Has a Prayer Room, More Friendly Towards Muslims

DDHK. ORG – Disneyland is one of the tourist icons in Hong Kong most visited traveler foreign countries including from Indonesia. The good news is that currently Hong Kong Disneyland already has a place of worship for muslim that is prayer room.

Reporting from Kompas, Hong Kong continues to strive to facilitate Muslim tourists through various facilities. Not only presenting halal-certified food, now a number of destinations have also provided prayer facilities.

"Hong Kong Disneyland is the only Disneyland in the world that is equipped with a prayer room," said Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) Senior Executive Marketing, Fabian Lee, when met by Kompas.com in Jakarta, Wednesday (12/4/2023).

It is known that even Muslim-friendly culinary delights, continued Fabian, are increasingly easy to find with the increasing promotion of halal certification in Hong Kong.

As for a number of iconic locations that sell halal culinary can be found in the Islamic Center Canteen area, Imperial Patisserie, Kowloon Mosque, and Ammar Mosque and Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre.

“Hong Kong also has two halal-certified KFC (fast food) restaurant outlets. One is located at Chuang London Plaza and the other is at Nathan Road in the Mongkok area," said Fabian.

This, he said, also shows the seriousness of stakeholders in Hong Kong in serving the needs of the Muslim community, which is also a potential segment for Hong Kong tourism.

As stated by HKTB's Marketing Director for Southeast Asia, Martin Gwee, the Muslim tourist market does have great potential for tourism development in the country. His party had even targeted the Muslim-friendly tourism sector before the Covid-19 pandemic, as one of the promising segments.

“About 80 percent of the population in Southeast Asia is Muslim and has great potential. In fact, before the pandemic and during the pandemic, we had also rolled out many initiatives that were targeting the Muslim community," said Martin Gwee. [DDHK News]
