Allow Umrah, Saudi Arabia Gives Additional Conditions for Indonesian Pilgrims

DDHK.ORG - After the 2021 Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia will allow Muslims from all over the world to perform Umrah. Umrah will begin at the beginning of the Hijri New Year.

"Saudi Arabia has announced the resumption of Umrah for international pilgrims from 1 Muharram 1443," reads the announcement published by @hsharifain, the official Twitter account of Haramain Sharifain, the manager of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia stipulates that prospective Umrah pilgrims who enter the kingdom must have been injected with a full dose of vaccine. "Mandatory requirements to have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with a complete dose of Pfizer, Mordena (Moderna), Astrazeneca, or J&J (Johnson & Johnson)," wrote the manager of Haramain Sharifain.

Saudi Arabia has allowed the Umrah pilgrimage for international pilgrims, starting from 1 Muharram 1443 Hijriyah with strict anti-coronavirus requirements.

“The complete dose of the Chinese vaccine (must be accompanied) with a booster injection of Pfizer, Mordena (Moderna), Astrazeneca, or J&J (Johnson&Johnson).”

Another requirement is that prospective Umrah pilgrims must be 18 years of age or older. In addition, prospective pilgrims must also perform Umrah through an agent accredited by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia.

Additional conditions apply for prospective Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia, the country with the largest Muslim population in the world which is experiencing a surge in cases of corona. Namely, must undergo quarantine for 14 days in a third country before landing in Saudi Arabia. Similar requirements also apply to Umrah pilgrims from 8 other countries.

"All countries are allowed to send (congregants by) direct flights, except for 9 countries. Namely, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, and Lebanon who are required to quarantine for 14 days in a third country before arriving in the Kingdom (Saudi Arabia)," wrote the manager of Haramain Syarifain.
