A couple from East Java won the 2021 Badminton Indonesia Cup in Hong Kong

DDHK.ORG - The pair of Rini and Nurul emerged as the first winner of the Women's Doubles Badminton Championships "Indonesia Cup 2021". This championship is held by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Hong Kong in commemoration of the 76th Indonesian Independence Day.

In the final round which was held at Chai Wan Sport Center, on Sunday, August 22, 2021, this pair from East Java defeated Irrel and Fera who later emerged as the XNUMXnd Winner. Meanwhile, Titik and Tia, who were also defeated by Rini/Nurul in the semifinals, emerged as third place winners.

“I am very, very happy and very proud,” Rini told DDHK News, when asked about her feelings.

This Indonesian migrant worker from Trenggalek, East Java, admitted that since the beginning of the championship he was optimistic that he could emerge as a champion with Nurul, his partner. "I'm very sure we will win, because we are trying to be Champion I," he said.

Nurul is not as optimistic as her partner, Rini. Although, still have a strong belief to be able to win. “Probably 50:50. But I believe I can become a champion because I believe in my abilities and my partner,” said the Indonesian migrant worker from Malang, East Java.

This woman, who has worked for almost 7 years in Hong Kong, can't hide her happiness. "I am happy and proud to be a champion again, because I stopped playing in 2019 and there are no tournaments in 2020," said Nurul.

Both Rini and Nurul emphasized that their success was not a coincidence. Rather, the fruit of strategy in choosing a partner.

"Yes, that's my strategy to win and want to win again with Rini. I chose him as a partner is to prove again that we can still be champions. Although previously there were a few people who looked down on us, but we proved that we can and can do it,” said Nurul.

The two did not always pair up in a similar tournament held by the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong. Nurul has won 6 times as a champion, while Rini has won the badminton tournament held by the Indonesian Consulate General twice.

According to Rini, she chose Nurul because she is more senior and has been actively playing badminton since childhood. That strategy paid off.

“We were champions in 2018. This year we tried again. Thank God, we can win again,” said the woman who has worked in Hong Kong for 15 years.

Both felt that the toughest opponent in this championship was when they competed in the big 8 round. According to Rini, the two of them did not know how to play their opponents at that time, Ninik and Candra.

They admit, the match was very draining. "In the round of 8 we were forced to play 3 sets," said Nurul.

Cash Prizes To Trophies

Nurul emphasized that the badminton championship held by the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong was very beneficial for Indonesian migrant workers. He hopes that more similar championships will be held in Hong Kong. Including, also compete in the women's singles sector.

Meanwhile, Rini expressed her gratitude to the Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong and all parties who have held this championship. "This year we really flooded with gifts," he said.

As first place winners, both of them received prizes in the form of 2 pairs of rackets, gifts in the form of parcels containing a variety of food and drinks, medals, certificates of appreciation, gifts containing raincoats, and cash. They also received the Indonesia Cup in rotation. [DDHKNews]
