The Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) has closed the registration period for presidential and vice presidential candidates (capres/cawapres) on Wednesday (25/10/2023). There are 3 pairs of prospective candidates who registered. Namely, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Anies-Muhaimin became the first presidential/vice presidential candidate pair to register with the KPU. The pair, known by the abbreviation AMIN, was supported by 4 political parties, namely the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummat Party on Thursday (19/10/2023).
On the same day, the Ganjar-Mahfud pair was registered with the KPU by the supporting parties. Namely, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI), the United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).
Finally, on Wednesday (25/10/2023), the Prabowo-Gibran pair registered with the KPU. This pair is supported by the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Indonesian Republican Guard Party (Garuda) , Prima Party, and Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
The three pairs of presidential/vice presidential candidates have already undergone medical tests at the Central Army Hospital (RSPAD). The KPU will announce the results of the medical tests for three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates this Friday (26/10/2023).
KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari said the announcement would be made after the KPU received the test results from the Gatot Soebroto RSPAD medical examiner team at 14.00 WIB. "(Date) October 27 2023 at around 14.00 WIB will be conveyed by the Gatot Soebroto RSPAD health inspection team to the KPU which will be carried out at the KPU office," said Hasyim.
