Prayers in Place There are Symbols of Other Religions

Question:

Assalamualaikum, chaplain.

Afwan, Ustadz, permission to ask questions. How is the law of praying in a place where there are objects or tools of other religious worship?

For example, in the house there is a cross, or there are other religious writings that are commonly used for worship, but are rarely used for worship and only occasionally on certain days are incense and offerings installed.

Thank you for your answer.

Salam,

Fulanah

Answer:

Wa'alaikumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

It is permissible to pray at home or in places where there are other religious symbols in certain circumstances, as mentioned above. However, it is better in a place where not a single symbol of shirk is present.

Even if we pray in that place, if possible then try to find a place that is farthest from the symbols of other religions as a form of our efforts. Even if not, then all prayers are still valid.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Regards!
