CAUSEWAY BAY | HONG KONG - Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) and Enrich collaborated to hold a financial planning training entitled Workshop on Financial and Empowerment Education for Migrant Workers in Hong Kong. The training was held for seven weeks, 23 June-4 August 2019.
There are five materials given to participants in the training. Namely, managing money wisely, increasing savings, establishing your own business, daring to speak, as well as money and family.
On Sunday (28/7/2019), it is the sixth class of the seven scheduled meetings. DDHKNews interviewed one of the participants named Romdiana about her experience in participating in the training and to find out what her plans were after attending the training.
The following is the narrative of the Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) from Mesuji, Lampung:
"This training is very useful for me, who is in need of knowledge about business. There is a very clear distinction for me: from previously not knowing anything about investment knowledge, now I have become even more aware of how important it is to invest.
My next step is to return to Indonesia to develop a business that I have started with my partner. Incidentally, I have set this August 26, 2019 or next month, to return home to Indonesia. I will practice the knowledge I get from Enrich's teachers in classes organized by DDHK.
Of the seven meetings of this financial planning class, the material on Setting Up Your Own Business (fourth and fifth meetings) is the most interesting and I look forward to it. Because, right now I really need knowledge about starting a business. I am starting the business “Warung PAPAYAMA, with menus: Banana Geprek Cheese, Ramen Ice Noodles, and Seblaku.
This workshop is very important. Hopefully DDHK will continue to implement this program in the future, so that many PMI friends (Indonesian migrant workers) will be more interested in joining classes to start a business in their own country and DDHK will become a place for learning.
