Vaccines and Swab Tests Are Travel Requirements for PPKM Level 3 Nataru Vacations

DDHK.ORG - The government has determined to implement a Level 3 PPKM policy throughout Indonesia during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday period, December 24, 2021 to January 2, 2022. The policy, said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy, is aimed at to regulate community mobility, so that the third wave of the Corona pandemic does not occur in the country.

"In general, the condition of our handling of Covid-19 is very good, even foreign appreciation is very good for Indonesia, and we must maintain this condition," said Muhadjir, as quoted by Antara. Indonesian CNN, Saturday, November 20, 2021.

However, previous experience has taught that the movement of people during long holidays has the potential to cause a spike in cases. Therefore, the government needs to set stricter policies.

Muhadjir explained that the implementation of PPKM Level 3 Nataru will be uniform for all of Indonesia. "Activities involving large crowds will be regulated starting from being banned to minimizing the opportunities," he said.

According to President Joko Widodo's directives, this year's Nataru holiday will not be insulated. But the government set strict conditions for citizens who travel.

“Anyone who wants to travel must immediately use the PeduliLindung application, then they must vaccinate. Those who have not been vaccinated must be vaccinated, but a second vaccine is attempted. In addition, before leaving, a swab test is also carried out," said Coordinating Minister Muhadjir.

Regarding the type of swab test needed, it will be the authority of the Ministry of Transportation to determine it. In addition, the government will also ensure checking and monitoring of travel to the destination, in collaboration with the National Police. Not only homecoming locations, travel destinations such as tourist attractions will also be closely monitored.

He added that the National Police is ready to vaccinate on the spot, if they find travelers who have not received the vaccination injection. "However, if there are no primary and urgent matters, you should avoid traveling to Nataru," said Muhadjir.

He did not deny, there is the possibility of a large-scale community movement at Nataru's moment. As an anticipatory measure, the government has prohibited ASN, TNI/Polri, including BUMN employees, from taking leave during the Nataru period. Meanwhile, private employees are advised not to use Nataru's holiday to take time off. [DDHKNews]
