It's nice for Surati to get halal food while being treated at a Hong Kong hospital

DDHK.ORG - Surati can't hide her gratitude and joy for being given halal food while being treated at the hospital Caritas Medical Center Hospital, Cheung Sha Wan. He then reported this to his friends in the Dompet Volunteer Team group Hong Kong Dhuafa (DDHK).

“All friends, we need to be grateful, because the Government Hong Kong has appreciated providing a halal-labeled food menu at the hospital. (This is) their form of tolerance towards Muslims," he said, a day after being discharged from the hospital, August 15, 2021.

He also advised his friends to respect the tolerance that the Hong Kong Government has shown by being tolerant as well. "We should respect that by maintaining mutual respect and respect for other religious people, and obeying all the rules, because in the midst of the majority of the community whose residents are non-Muslims we are still respected and cared for," said Surati.

This Indonesian migrant worker from Kediri, East Java, experienced pain in his head and neck. His stomach was queasy when he moved. Since Thursday, August 12, he has been hospitalized at Caritas Medical Center.

"I came home Saturday afternoon (14 August)," said Surati.

When she entered the hospital, the woman who had worked in Hong Kong for 10 years was asked about her trustworthiness by officers. She also replied that she was a Muslim and did not eat pork and other non-halal foods.

While being treated at the Caritas Medical Center Hospital, Surati received a halal food menu.

On that basis, the bed he occupies is given information about the halal food menu that must be given. Surati said the breakfast menu was rice and bread. While lunch and dinner are almost the same, which revolves around rice and fish with corn sauce, as well as a combination of mustard greens, corn, carrots, and peas with sauce.

"When it comes to taste, out of 10 I give 6 points. But regardless of taste, there I can get halal food, I'm very happy and grateful," said the Indonesian migrant worker who is currently in his third year working in the Sham Sui Po area. this.

With this fact, Surati is of the opinion that it is no longer the time for us, Indonesian migrant workers who are Muslim, to carelessly consume food on a daily basis. “Now that we are in Hong Kong, it is not difficult to find halal food. So, try to keep trying to consume halal. Even at the employer's house, we should not be afraid. Give an explanation to the employer properly and politely, God willing, they will understand," he said.
