Hong Kong Prepares New, More Effective Covid-19 Vaccine

The Hong Kong government has prepared a more effective Covid-19 vaccine to deal with the latest variant of the virus. On Thursday (30/11/2023) the government said that around 100.000 doses of the new vaccine for the XBB variant of Covid-19 had arrived in Hong Kong.

Government advisers say the new vaccine will provide better protection than previous versions. "Pfizer's mRNA vaccine is expected to be available starting next month," wrote RTHK.

However, because supplies are limited, the Government will arrange for vaccines available in the initial period to be given first to people in high-risk groups. This includes those over 65 years of age and nursing home residents.
