Flash Flood Soaks Four Districts in Bayah, Banten

DDHK. ORG - Due to heavy rains that flushed and made the river water overflow, four sub-districts in Lebak, Banten, affected by flooding. The four sub-districts are in Bayah, Panggarangan, Cilograng, and Cibeber.

Flood The flash that occurred on Sunday, October 9, 2022, also submerged hundreds of houses in Bayah District, which caused the economy to be hampered. The water level during the flood even reached 1,5 meters.

Floods caused two bridges in Lebak Regency, Banten, to break. The road access that is usually used is now damaged and makes it difficult for residents to move.

The current condition of the flood that occurred in Bayah District, Lebak, Banten has receded. Residents began to clean up the mud to the garbage carried by the flood.

Bayah Timur Village Secretary Supriyatno explained that the flood began to recede at 19.00-20.30 WIB.

Supriyatno said that the flooding in Bayah was caused by the overflow of the Cimandur river due to the rain. The height of the flood in Bayah is between 40 centimeters to 1 meter.

The village government has yet to collect data on the impact of floods and earthquakes.

Need Food Help

At present, the people who are victims of flash floods in Bayah District are in dire need of assistance in the form of staple foods to meet their family's food consumption needs.

"We hope that the victims will get basic material assistance to ease the family's economic burden," said Isra, Head of RT 2/RW 4 Kampung Bayah 1 Bayah District Lebak Regency.

The basic food needs are very much needed because the existing supplies of rice and side dishes are submerged and even carried away by the flood currents.

Not only flooding, the area was also hit by an earthquake on the same day. This flood event did not cause any casualties.

Usep, Head of West Bayah Village, Bayah District, Lebak Regency, said that his party really hopes for basic food assistance for residents affected by the flood disaster.

Until now, the number of residents affected by the flood disaster in the area was recorded at 175 families.

"We really hope that there will be basic food assistance, because the supplies of basic commodities have been washed away by the flood," he said.

Meanwhile, Febby Rizky Pratama, Head of the Lebak Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), said his party was ready to distribute basic materials for victims of natural disasters after the completion of data collection. [DDHK News]
