Using Wardah Cosmetics Donation Laptop, DDHK Reopens Computer Class

DDHK.ORG - Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) re-opening computer classes for migrant workers Indonesia in the Land of Concrete. This time, classes are open every Saturday and Sunday.

"To support the implementation of the DDHK computer class, we utilize 6 donated laptop units from Wardah Cosmetics," said DDHK General Manager, M Imam Baihaqi.

The laptop assistance was provided by one of the Indonesian beauty product brands which was well known among Muslim women in early 2020. Laptop assistance is part of the women's empowerment program implemented by Wardah Cosmetics.

At that time, DDHK also held a computer course for Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong who had holidays on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. The teacher at that time was Mr. Kris.

"However, the computer course was stopped due to the social restriction policy due to the Corona pandemic. Now we can start again, when there is an easing of social activities from the Hong Kong Government," said Imam.

Saturday and Sunday Class

DDHK's Sunday computer class starts early, ie since August 15, 2021, under the guidance of Ms. Fadilla Wahyudi as a teacher. While the computer class on Saturday started on August 28, taught by Mr. Addy.

"On Sunday, September 5, 6 participants took part in the computer class," said Marlina, a member of the DDHK Volunteer Team who also took part in learning computers.

Last Sunday was the third meeting of Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong to learn computers with Ms. Fadilla at the DDHK office located in Causeway Bay. At the first meeting, they were introduced to the computer operationalization system. Namely, from using the mouse or touchpad, using the keyboard, to the basics of file management.

In the second meeting, the computer class participants were introduced to how to surf the internet and how to access websites. While the third meeting was filled with lessons on how to download images and save them, use search engines such as Google and Bing, and learn how to surf safely.
