5 Loss of Riba

5 Loss of Riba

Assalamu'alaikum, Ustadz.

Please ask for a cult or knowledge about the dangers of usury, to remind yourself and friends, because there are still many friends who do debts in the bank. Hopefully by understanding the sin or danger of usury, friends will immediately leave it.

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Wassalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarokaatuh.

Thanks for the question. Hopefully we can all stay away from usury.

All agree on the prohibition of usury, and we are commanded to abandon the practice or transaction of usury in muamalah, according to the word of Allah SWT:

"O you who believe, fear Allah and leave the rest of usury (which has not been collected) if you are believers." (Al Baqarah 278).

There are several disadvantages for the perpetrators of usury. Namely:

First, received a curse from the Prophet :

From Jabir bin Abdullah said, "The Messenger of Allah cursed the eater of usury, the giver, the recorder, and the two witnesses. He said: "They are all the same." (HR Muslim)

Second, Allah will erase the blessings of usury. Allah says, “Allah destroys usury and enriches alms. And Allah does not like anyone who remains in disbelief and always commits sin” (Al Baqarah: 276)

Third, perpetrators are threatened with the torment of hell fire. In the practice of usury, none of the benefits can be taken from it. The threat to usurers is hell. This terrible threat is no joke.

Allah SWT confirms the prohibition of usury in the QS. Ali Imran verse 130: "O you who believe, do not eat usury doubled and fear Allah so that you will get good luck."

Fourth, including the seven great sins. Rasulullah said:

From Abi Hurairah RA said that the Messenger of Allah said, "Stay away from you seven things that harm". The companions asked, "What is it, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah replied, "Shirking in Allah, sorcery, killing the life that Allah has forbidden except with the right, eating usury, eating the property of orphans, fleeing from war, and accusing adultery." (Hadith narrated by Muttafaq alaihi).

Fifth, Like the sin of marrying one's own mother, as mentioned in the hadith of the Prophet :

From Abdullah bin Masud RA, the Messenger of Allah said, "Riba consists of 73 doors. The lightest door is like a man marrying his own mother." (Narrated by Ibn Majah and Al-Hakim).

Thus, some of the dangers and losses for the perpetrators of usury, may Allah always make it easy for us to stay away from usury.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Regards!
