Use alternative sources, power supply in New Territories West is restored

DDHK.ORG - Power supply to all households previously affected by the massive blackout in the New Territories West has been restored. The claim was submitted by the Hong Kong electricity company CLP Power, Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

This recovery is happening faster than the initial prediction previously submitted by CLP which stated that they may need 2 days to restore energy to about 20.000 homes in Tin Shui Wai. The New Territories West had a massive blackout earlier as a result of a fire that destroyed a transmission cable bridge in Yuen Long.

CLP's Senior Director, Eric Cheung, is accelerating the recovery of electricity, because his party has been supplying electricity from alternative sources since around 8 am. Eric warned that the electricity supply in the area may remain unstable for several days.

“The safety of our power supply is slightly lower compared to normal supply arrangements. So if they can save a little bit of energy, it can help us in maintaining the electricity supply to them before we can fully restore the supply in this area," said Eric. [Source: RTHK] [DDHKNews]
