DDHK Sahara Team Becomes Sacrificial Volunteer

DDHK.ORG - General Manager Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK), M. Imam Baihaqi, asked the 2021 Sahabat Ramadhan (Sahara) volunteer team to become sacrificial volunteers. Among their duties after this Ramadan, is to perform qurban rituals and receive qurbani payments from migrant workers Indonesia di Hong Kong and Macau.

“After the disbandment of the Sahara Volunteers, they also continued their duties as sacrificial volunteers. So, for Indonesian migrant workers who want to pay for sacrifices, they can also go through the Sacrificial Friends Volunteer team," said Imam Baihaqi, after the disbandment of Sahara 1442 H at the DDHK office, last Sunday, June 13, 2021.

The Sahara volunteers consist of representatives of the Da'wah partner taklim assemblies as well as volunteers and former DDHK volunteers. As the name suggests, their main task is to perform syiar and receive payment of zakat, infaq, shodaqoh, and waqf (Ziswaf) throughout the month of Ramadan. Since Ramadan has passed, on Saturday and Sunday, 12-13 June, a ceremony for the dissolution of Sahara 1442 H/2021 AD was held at the DDHK office in Causeway Bay.

At the end of Ramadan, each member of the Sahara team also participates in the Spreading of Zakat Fitri which is a program Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong. Those who come from various regions in the country also distribute the collected zakat fitri to their respective hometowns.

Thanks to the hard work and struggle of Sahara volunteers, during Ramadan 1442 H and then DDHK managed to collect donations from the community amounting to HK$406,561. In detail, humanitarian funds are HK$2,730, infaq HK$163,113, thematic infaq HK$5,580, waqf HK$77,632, zakat HK$62,978, and zakat fitri HK$94,528.

"We thank all the Sahara volunteers who have been actively involved in the Ziswaf syiar during Ramadan. God willing, in every aid program that we carry out, there is sweat and struggle from Sahara friends. Hopefully it will be a shodaqoh reward for all of my friends,” said Imam, expressing his gratitude to the Sahara volunteers.

Sahara DDHK volunteers received a special Octopus card as a token of DDHK membership.

Keepsake from DDHK

During the disbandment of Sahara volunteers in 1442 H, DDHK gave souvenirs to the volunteers. The souvenirs which are expected to be a keepsake of their contribution are in the form of a special Octopus card bearing the DDHK logo and batik designs, medals, and souvenirs.

Saharan volunteers also received gifts from DDHK.

Three of them received special gifts because they managed to collect the largest donation. Namely, Sriani as the largest collector of waqf donations, Erni Rusmiati as the largest collector of zakat fitri, and Suprihatin as the largest infaq collector. [DDHKNews/Report: Praise] [DDHKNews]
