The Nature of the Prophet's Prayers: Reading the Prophet's Prayers in the Final Tasyahud (11)

DDHK.ORG - The practice of praying from the time of our ancestors to the present day generally uses the standard of prayer described by the Shafi'i school of thought. This is because the majority of the Indonesian population is generally the Shafi'i school of thought. The scholars who spread Islam in the archipelago, of course, were also scholars of the Shafi'i school of thought. So automatically the practice of prayer is based on the fiqh of the Shafi'i school of thought.

Through this series of articles, DDHK News describes the nature of the prayer of the Prophet Muhammad based on the Shafi'i school, as written by Muhammad Ajib, Lc., MA. in his book "Sahih Evidence of the Prophet's Prayer Ala Madzhab Syafi'iy".

After completing the final tasyahud reading, then we have one more obligation, namely reading shalawat on the Prophet . As for the shalawat to the Prophet's family and the shalawat to the Prophet Ibrahim (as) the law is only sunnah. If it is read to the end, it is more afdhol.

The minimum obligatory prayer reading is "Allahumma Sholli Ala Muhammad". And it is also sunnah to add the lafadz "Sayyidinaa" before the word Muhammad.

In the matter of reading sholawat to the Prophet , the Shafi'i school uses a valid argument narrated by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, "From the friend of Ka'ab bin Ajrah radhiyallahu 'anhu that we ask, O Messenger of Allah, how do we say shalawat to you? The Prophet said: Allahumma sholli ala muhammad wa 'alaa aali muhammad, kama shollaita ala ibrohim and so on." (Hadith narrated by Bukhari & Muslim) [Continued] [DDHKNews]
