The Nature of the Prophet's Prayer: Reading the Final Tasyahud (10)

DDHK.ORG - The practice of praying from the time of our ancestors to the present day generally uses the standard of prayer described by the Shafi'i school of thought. This is because the majority of the Indonesian population is generally the Shafi'i school of thought. The scholars who spread Islam in the archipelago, of course, were also scholars of the Shafi'i school of thought. So automatically the practice of prayer is based on the fiqh of the Shafi'i school of thought.

Through this series of articles, DDHK News describes the nature of the prayer of the Prophet Muhammad based on the Shafi'i school, as written by Muhammad Ajib, Lc., MA. in his book "Sahih Evidence of the Prophet's Prayer Ala Madzhab Syafi'iy".

Reading tahiyat / tasyahud at the end of the law is obligatory. As for the editorial reading, there are 5 authentic hadith narrations. However, of the five narrations, the most afdhol is that of Imam Muslim from the companions of Ibn Mas'ud.

The first argument: In the problem of reading the Final Tasyahud, the Shafi'i school uses the authentic evidence narrated by Imam Ad-Daruqutni and Imam Al Baihaqi: "From a friend of Ibn Mas'ud radhiyallahu 'anhu that before tasyahud is required we say "assalamu alallah and so on" then the Prophet said: say "At-Tahiyyatu Lillah." (Hadith narrated by Abu Dawud & At-Tirmidhi)

Wajhul istidlalnya is in the sentence "Qabla An Yufrodho Alaina". This means that then reading tasyahud is obligatory after the Prophet taught the editor the correct reading.

The second argument: The editorial reading of tasyahud that is read is a saheeh hadith narrated by Imam Muslim which reads: "From the companions of Ibn Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhuma from the Prophet : At-Tahiyyaatul Mubaarokatus Sholawaatut Toyyibaatu Lillah, Assalamu 'alaika ayyuhan Nabiyyu Warohmatuhaullahi Wabarokatlaina wa ala Ibadillahis Shalihiin, Ashhadu allaa ilaha illallah, wa ashhadu anna muhammadar Rasulullah."
