The Law of Exaggerating Prices in Shopping Notes

DDHK.ORG - The Law of Exaggerating Prices in Shopping Notes

Peace, mercy and blessings of God

Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

I work in a shop, then there are subscriptions that I usually buy. He always asked for a payment note when it was written that the price was more expensive than the original price. From the results of the memorandum of payment, there must be a difference. I always give it to him, but I also share it with the employees at the shop as well.

Is that allowed? Please your advice.

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Bismillah... My sister who is blessed by Allah.

Buying and selling is one of the two best jobs, as narrated by Ibn Umar ra.

"The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam was asked, "What is the most important job?" He replied, "A man's work with his own hands and all good commerce." (HR Thabrani)

Even buying and selling is including 9/10 (9 out of 10) sources of sustenance. But what happens if the sale and purchase is not in accordance with the rules of fiqh muamalah? Of course it will bring the wrath of Allah Subhanahu wata'ala and far from blessing.

The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said:

ا لَيْسَ ا، الْمَكْرُ الْخِدَاعُ النَّارِ.

"Whoever cheats, then he is not from our group. People who commit treason and deceit, his place in hell." (Narrated by Ibn Hibban)

In another hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said:

لُّ لَحْمٍ امٍ النَّارُ لَى (رواه الترمذي)

"Every flesh that grows from something that is haram, then hell is more entitled to it." (HR Tirmidhi)

Imam Tirmidhi narrates that the caliph Umar bin al-Khattab Radhiyallahu Anhu once met a dishonest seller and issued an order by saying:

لَا ا لَّا الدِّينِ

"Don't sell in our market, these are traders who don't understand dien (muamalat)."

Including cheating in buying and selling is writing notes that are not in accordance with the original price in the hope of getting an excess. Even though in the end it is shared with other people, it is not justified. So in the matter of giving charity, a Muslim is obliged to have lawful and good assets.

May Allah keep us from being dishonest in our work, amen.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Hope it works!

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
