Religion Is Advice

From Abu Ruqayyah Tamim bin Aus Ad-Daari radhiyallahu 'anhu, he said that the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wa sallam said, "Religion is advice." We asked, "For whom?" He replied, "For Allah, for His book, for His apostles, for the leaders of the Muslims, as well as for Muslims in general." (HR. Muslim) [HR. Muslim, no. 55]

This is the seventh of the 42 hadiths collected by Imam Muhyiddin Abu Zakariyya Yahya bin Syaraf An-Nawawi. The book of hadith collection is better known by Muslims as the Book of Arbain Nawawi.

Imam Nawawi is a great scholar who lived in the 7th century. Imam An-Nawawi is known as a zuhud, wara 'and pious person. He is simple, qana'ah and authoritative. He devoted much of his time to knowledge in obedience. Often does not sleep at night for worship or writing, so that he has produced hundreds of volumes of books which are still being felt by Muslims in various parts of the world.

The hadith that we mentioned at the beginning of the paragraph includes hadiths that have a high importance in Islamic teachings. Muhammad bin Aslam Ath-Thusi said that the hadith is one of a quarter of religions. Ath-Thabrani narrated a hadith from Hudzaifah bin Al-Yaman Radhi yallahu Anhu from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam who said,

من لم يهتم بأمر المسلمين فليس منهم ومن لم يناصح لله ولرسوله ولكتابه ولإمامه ولعامة المسلمين فلمس منهلمين فلمة.

ال الله ل: ا النصح لي.

"Whoever does not care about the affairs of the Muslims, he is not part of them. Whoever in the afternoon and morning does not give advice to Allah, His Messenger, His Book, His Imam, and all the Muslims, he is not a part of them. "

Imam Ahmad narrated a hadith from Abu Umamah Radhiyallahu Anhu from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam who said, "Allah Azza Jalla said," Something that my servant uses to worship Me, which I love the most is advice for Me. "

There are many hadiths about advice for Muslims in general. In Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim there is a hadith from Jarir bin Abdullah which says, "I pledge allegiance to the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam to establish prayers, pay zakat and advise every Muslim."

"There are six rights of believers over other believers." He mentioned one of them, “If he asks you for advice, advise him. "

The hadith is also narrated from various routes from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam. In Al-Musnad it is mentioned a hadith from Hakim bin Abu Yazid from his father from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam who said, "If one of you asks his brother for advice, let his brother advise him.

Apart from giving advice to Muslims in general, there are many other hadiths about the advice to specifically advise leaders. Regarding the second hadith, which is advice for leaders and their advice to the people, in Sahih Muslim a hadith from Abu Hurairah Radhiyallahu Anhu from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam said,

"Verily Allah is pleased with three things to you; He is pleased that you worship Him and do not associate Him with anything, you all cling to the rope of Allah and are not divorced, and you advise those who are appointed by Allah to take care of your affairs. "

In the Book of Al-Musnad and others mentioned the hadith from Jubair bin Muth'im Radhiyallahu Anhu that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam said in his sermon in Al-Khaif in Mina, "Let humans and some of them get disaster from some others. . If someone asks his brother for advice, let his brother advise him, "

Rasululullah also said: "There are three things in which the hearts of Muslims do not betray them; sincere deeds for Allah, advise the leaders, and be in the congregation of the Muslims. "

Narrated with other editors by Ad-Daruquthni in Al-Afrad with good sanad. The editorial is that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam said, "There are three things that the hearts of Muslims do not betray them; advice to Allah, His Messenger, His Book, and all Muslims. "

In Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim it is mentioned the hadith from Ma'qil bin Yasar Radhiyallahu Anhu from the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam which said: "It is not a servant who is chosen by Allah to lead the people then he does not cover them with advice, but he does not go to heaven. . "

In the Qur'an, Allah Ta'ala mentions about the prophets Alaihimussalam, that they advise their respective people, as Allah Ta'ala explains about Prophet Noah and Prophet Salih. Allah Ta'ala said, "There is no sin (because of not going to jihad) on those who are weak, on people who are sick and on people who do not get what they will spend, if they are sincere to Allah and His Apostle. " (At-Taubah: 91).

Al-Bazzar narrated hadith number 141 from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri with the editor, "Three things that the hearts of Muslims do not betray; give deeds for Allah, advise the leaders of the Muslims, and be in their congregation, because their prayers cover those behind them. "

In language, advice is a sentence which means manifesting kindness to those intended for advice.

Advice to Allah includes the meaning of giving up worship only to Allah, not associating partners with it, and exalting its substance and properties.

Advice for Al-Quran may include defending the Koran from distortion and alteration. Defend Al-Quran from reproach and humiliation. It justifies everything that is reported without any doubts. Carry out every commandment and stay away from every prohibition therein. Believe that the existing law is as good as the law.

While advice to Muslims in general means inviting them to goodness and preventing them from munkar. Willing in truth, patience, and mutual affection. Wallahua'lam.
