Planes are prohibited from crossing the sky of the Kaaba, this is the reason?

DDHK.ORG - Any type of aircraft is prohibited from crossing the sky Kaaba. Please note, in the world of aviation, there is a term no-fly zone, aka a prohibition zone where aircraft are not allowed to pass over a number of places.

One of them is the Kaaba which is the qibla of the people Islam around the world.
The French National Airline Pilots Union (SNPL), quoted by AFP, said the flight ban was justified by Saudi authorities for "ideological reasons [and] respect for the Kaaba".

City Makkah considered a holy city, only Muslims are allowed to enter this city. This prohibition also includes the airspace over the city.

Another reason, it is feared that the noise from aircraft engines will be reflected by the mountains surrounding the Kaaba so that it can disturb the concentration of the congregation who are praying solemnly.

The website of the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia (GACA) confirms, “No person may operate an aircraft over or in the vicinity of any area to be visited or traversed by the custodians of the two holy mosques, or other public figures in contravention of the restrictions stipulated by the president and issued in a Notification for Pilots (NOTAM)”.

These NOTAMs are listed on the website of the International Civil Aviation Organization, and they show airlines the places they are not allowed to fly, as well as no-fly conditions.

However, as reported by Detik, there are several exceptions to the ban on flying over Mecca. Sometimes, helicopters are allowed to pass through Mecca to monitor the safety of pilgrims performing the pilgrimage.

Not only the Kaaba, there are also no fly zones in tourist destinations such as Machu Picchu, the Greek Parthenon, the Taj Mahal for reasons of preserving these destinations. [DDHK News]
