How to pray for sick people and cannot be separated from Pampers

DDHK.ORG - How to pray for sick people and cannot be separated from Pampers

Peace, mercy and blessings of God

Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

My father has been sick for more than 1 year. He had a medical examination, and the results only stated that he was sick with gout and cholesterol. His complaint is that if you touch the cold water, you can feel it to your bones.

He had left prayer for over a year too, for many reasons. Namely, he can't touch water, can't tayammum, and he also wears diapers because he defecates and urinates on his own.

What I want to ask:

  1. Do you have to change diapers every time you pray? For fear of being unclean.
  2. How do I treat my parents when they are like that? Asked to worship for many reasons.

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings be upon you

Every Muslim is given the obligation to pray while life is still in the body. As long as the breath is still running, the obligation to pray must be fulfilled. However, it is true that the procedure for carrying out the prayer follows the circumstances and conditions of the person doing it.

Well, for patients who use diapers, they should replace them every time they are going to pray, if the diapers are unclean.

Performing prayers when sick does require more effort. So it is permissible to pray for patients or those who are seriously ill, so that they use diapers, it is permissible to pray for them. Thus, the use and replacement of diapers in one day is sufficient only twice, not necessarily five times.

How to do it?

For example, after changing the first diaper, the patient performs the Zuhur and Asr prayers which are performed in congregational ta'khir. The prayer is carried out at the end of Asr time before Maghrib time. Then, after the Zuhur and Asr prayers, he can immediately perform the Maghrib and Isha prayers by means of jama' taqdim. That's how to pray and change the first diaper.

The second change of diaper is done at Fajr time. So, this method makes it easier for sick people not to change diapers over and over again. Just two times.

Then the responsibility for caring for the sick is the responsibility of the family or assigned. So whoever gets a share of guarding, should pay attention and always remind gently every time it is time for prayer. If there is reason and so on, let's pray and continue to be given kindness and good advice to the sick.
