Amid Omicron Surge and Activity Restrictions, DDHK Raises HK$78,146 Donations in January 2022

DDHK.ORG - The start of 2022 is a tough period for the Indonesian community in Hong Kong. Because the Omicron variant of the corona pandemic outbreak has worsened, various community activities have also been heavily restricted by the government.

However, in January 2022, Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) reported that it was able to raise a total donation of HK$78,146. In detail, based on the report, DDHK received zakat payment funds of HK$8, HK$8. For infaq, DDHK recorded a donation of HK$564. DDHK also recorded a waqf fund income of HK$51,944 and humanitarian donations of HK$11,429.

Donations from Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong and Macau are collected by DDHK through several channels. Namely:

  1. Donation boxes placed at the BNI Remittance offices in Causeway Bay, Tsuen Wan, Hung Hom, and Yuen Long branches;
  2. Donation box at BRI Remittance office Causeway Bay branch;
  3. A donation box at the Dapur Kita restaurant in Causeway Bay;
  4. Donation box at Amanda's Store, Causeway Bay;
  5. Pick up donations by calling 6464 2555;
  6. HKD Account Transfer with FPS ID: 166006742 (Dompet Dhuafa Association Limited);
  7. Rupiah Account Transfer through Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) with number 500 5050 608, an Dompet Dhuafa Republica;
  8. Alms via SMS Telin by typing ZAKAT, INFAK, or WAKAF and sent to 333;
  9. TNG app: paybill method (pay bills) by selecting Dompet Dhuafa Association Limited; and
  10. Direct Payment: by coming to the office Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong at Leighton Road Flat D Lei Shun Court Building 3 / F No. 116, Causeway Bay.
  11. Give charity and donate by sticking an Octopus or patadong card on the machine provided at the DDHk office in Causeway Bay.

Throughout January 2022, DDHK had an expenditure of HK$122,816. The details are for operations, fundraising activities, social assistance, da'wah activities, providing training, and for humanitarian assistance.

Disaster and Social Assistance

In January 2022, DDHK distributed aid and compensation funds to 6 regions in Indonesia. Namely to Kendal, Cirebon, Magetan, Karawang, Malang, and Banyumas. All of this assistance was provided through the management of the da'wah partner taklim assemblies, as well as program participants and the DDHK Volunteer Team.

During this period, DDHK also provided parcel packages containing food and daily necessities to Indonesian migrant workers at quarantine sites upon arrival in Hong Kong. DDHK also provides assistance for health assistance for the poor, and financial assistance for disaster survivors in the country.

This month DDHK provided shelter services to 8 Indonesian migrant workers in Hong Kong who needed temporary housing due to various factors. In addition, DDHK also visited 4 Indonesian migrant workers who are currently in a Hong Kong prison.

Media and Da'wah Sector

In the field of media and news, DDHK continues to publish news and information about the Islamic world, institutional activities, religious consultations, as well as the latest information from Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Macau. Including, about the latest news about the development and handling of the corona virus pandemic. A total of 27 news and articles were published through the website ddhk.org. While on social media, DDHK made 153 posts on the Facebook page Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong, 30 posts on Instagram, and 22 videos on Youtube channel DDHK News.

Through the da'wah program, DDHK provides 10 online consultations, 32 online religious tausiyah, and organizes 23 Qur'an learning classes, for adults, boys and girls, and children. “These activities were attended by 751 people, consisting of various groups. Namely, expatriates, Indonesian migrant workers, expatriate mothers, and children," said Imam Baihaqi.

DDHK also provides online tausiyah via WhatsApp messages and Facebook posts. This tausiyah message is given every day.

For the Migrant Class program, DDHK held 2 English class meetings and 2 computer class meetings. "Due to restrictions on activities from the Government, we have closed some training classes and courses," said Imam Baihaqi. [DDHKNews]
